Who he was before the hunt

Raised Arizona in the 1990s (Tucson desert; family also tied to Alamogordo / Cloudcroft, NM). Indiana Jones. Age 9–13: khaki, Stetson, leather jacket, bullwhip every day.

Parents: Both railroad engineers. Mother: Lorri Fitzwater Tappero (Beaverhead County High, Dillon).

Grandpa: Wayne Fitzwater — Beaverhead County game warden, Dillon resident, author of Where the Hell Did You Come From?

Summers: Family cabin in Montana. Favorite thing: hills with a metal detector.

Maverick: Maverick Mountain ski hill at Polaris, Grasshopper Valley. He has called it 'my why' — why he skis, why he loves winter and the outdoors. August 2026 Sand Creek Fire: family cabin survived 30 yards from the burn; Maverick lost its only chairlift.

Mason: 32nd degree a few days after his 18th birthday. Later demitted. Asked if that knowledge is in the hunt: no privileged knowledge — poem + basic web search (Sandal Sanders, 27 Sep 2025). The Hiram Key on the house shelf is the public paperback of that idea, not a pin on Rosslyn.

Work: Software engineer. Redmond, WA at a tech giant (ciphers, algorithms). Fully remote by ~2015. Austin, TX with Jennie. Early Netflix stock (2003) funded later collecting.

Fenn years: Obsessed ~2012–2020. ~500 solves. Lived Ojo Caliente to Glacier. Shortlist included Madison Junction / Nine Mile Hole, Sunlight Basin, Camp Loll. Came close; did not find it. Brother Brandon died during the hunt. Bought part of Fenn’s chest at auction (Tesouro Sagrado Holdings, 2022) as a steward.

He found a meteorite while walking. MeatEater Ep. 246 (2020) says it was confirmed as a meteorite, and there was more where that came from — the seed of a future hunt.

Community memory (Facebook group, Jul 2025): somewhere in Montana. He will not say where. Rough value mentioned ~$10,000 for that stone — not the whole chest.

A sizable / large meteorite is in the BTME container. Hollywood Reporter asked how a 42-year-old who didn’t find Fenn could afford one: Netflix stock (2003) plus years of collecting, plus walking around looking at the ground like a kid with a metal detector.

1. The poem is consecutive. He has not mapped each line to a named creek.

4. MAGYAR names the container family. ARKADE named a key in a sentence. The poem is still the key.

If you only walk one place: He has not published a drainage, a trailhead, or a GPS. If you knew where to go, buried vs not would not matter.
